BIMBA Y LOLA shares with us their Spring Summer 2017 collection lookbook. Inspired by culture and way of life of the Maasai people, the new collection is a combination of various colours, materials and textures.
SPRING SUMMER 2017 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
BIMBA Y LOLA shows its fascination for the Maasai by starting off with the prints that also represent the leitmotiv of the new collection. Conceived as a never-ending “patchwork of prints” in which fabrics with strong primary colours share the scene with acid hued strokes; over light and brilliant foundations. The feminine figure is depicted with different techniques and combined with prints inspired in their culture and traditions, the same representing the main theme of these prints. The idea behind this fabric collection is to capture that joy and sensitivity through a series of crafted knots, flounces, draping, piping, designs that recall the most traditional ikats, different sized checks, African prints that break away from the everyday more geometric elements. This “patchwork print” concept finds its continuity in the collection of handbags and shoes, which have been created in different textures, raffia fibre, cotton canvas, leather, braided plastic, colourful bits and pieces… and all of it with a decisively Maasai inspired explosion of colours. – from Bimba Y Lola
