Japanese brand Children of the Discordance presented their Spring Summer 2021 The Protect Archives ll collection with the video directed by Katsumi Minami as part of Milan Digital Fashion Week. This was brand’s Milan debut, after presenting their last two collections at Tokyo Fashion Week. To create the SS21 collection, brand used their archive pieces and redesigned them into modern looks.

“Garments are not made to last forever, even the great masterpieces of garment archives will not be used because of the outdated size, the stains and holes, anything that will leave the clothing untouched or forgotten. Children of the discordance works with these vanishing archives, taking the pieces apart, chopping them up and preserving the useable parts, and reconstructing into a wearable piece, created from an archive art pieces that would only be just vanishing its value left in a storage.
This season added several new styles for the bandanas which appear in lining of a matching sleeveless pullover, short trousers and overcoats. Crushed and damaged vintage bandanas used as they are become patterns on a sweater. Jackets and trousers in shapes inspired by archives and rebuild into wearable realistic sizes. Vintage scarves and rugs fixed in a joint pattern to create a patched fabric.” – from Children of the Discordance
