Designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua presented N21 Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection, that explores eccentric eroticism which fuses modesty with desire to be noticed. The collection was inspired by the work of Italian designer, architect and photographer Carlo Mollino. With FW21 collection N21 explores a powerful attraction, and brings back physicality after months of forced social distancing.
FALL WINTER 2021 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
A Carlo Mollino photograph got me to thinking about a form of aesthetics that the great Italian architect imbued also into the attitudes and postures of the women he photographed in settings he constructed with his eclectic vision. I wanted to transfer into my collection the same eccentric eroticism, a typically Italian sense of eroticism holding all in one both modesty and desire to draw attention. That’s the starting point for a very “clean” inflection of the eccentric side to the bourgeoisie consisting of lace bras peeking through a cardigan, see-through elements emerging quite by chance, a wish for physicality and nudity which find innocence precisely in the nonchalance of intent. It’s a collection that’s built not around “double meanings” open to interpretation but around direct words providing women and men the chance to show themselves for how they want to be – Alessandro Dell’Acqua, N21 creative director
“Short melton cabans with sheepskin lining, wrap style like the ample coats in a mannish wool check, the same giving definition to mid thigh-skimming dress with crystal trim on collar and short sleeves; little chiffon dresses revealing black lace lingerie underneath, pencil skirts with crystal edging along the side slits; bulky mohair sweaters offering glimpses of nude color underwear, and egg-shaped coats making a statement in animal print wool; lace cloth skirts with organza lining, mini coats with gold button closure; wool bodysuits taking the place of blouses and, as with skirts and short dresses, supporting the sensuality of the sheer black Wolford hose that goes with all the looks in the collection. Meanwhile for men, blouses become see-through black lace polo shirts to sport also with short pants, as well as with coats and sweaters identical of shape, volume and style to the ones for women.” – from N21
