Italian leather goods brand Cuoio di Toscana presented its first collection at Milano Fashion Week. A part of Consorzio Vero Cuoio Italiano, the brand introduced a collection made completely from natural and ecological materials, making it 100% sustainable. The first collection with the new signature CTD, consisting of 5 tote bags – 2 big size and 3 small size – and a moccasin, was presented with a video that embodies the artisan soul and sustainable brand. The video invites you to reflect on the consequences of your choices, and purchases, while also showing the beauty of brand’s products. The accessories, genderless, have as their distinctive element a charm with the initials of the Cuoio di Toscana brand: CDT, a seal and guarantee of the authenticity and excellence of Made Italy sole leather.
ACCESSORIES
Even before sustainability became a value for companies and consumers, the Consortium has in fact focused on completely natural and ecological materials and manufacturing processes, which are rooted in its history. Cuoio di Toscana is in fact 100% natural and sustainable, an excellence obtained from a slow vegetable tanning process in the tub, based on the use of natural extracts, chestnut, mimosa and quebracho tannins. Following this ancient processing technique, with great respect for the supply chain and the Tuscan traditions of arts and crafts, raw hides are transformed into a durable material. The tannins guarantee metal-free processing, to protect the health of consumers and the quality of the creations and the environment. Thanks to the tannins, the sole leather is ductile, performing, healthy and safe. The use of tannin is sustainable, because the plant species from which it is derived spontaneously grow back from the suckers (as in the case of chestnut), or are grown in the nursery and continuously replanted at each cutting campaign (for mimosa and quebracho). The producers are also completing their certification according to the PEFC standard (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes), which further guarantees a correct and sustainable management of the plant resources from which the tannins are obtained. Furthermore, the Cuoio di Toscana companies transform waste from the food industry into a material of quality and excellence, otherwise destined for disposal, with a consequent high environmental and economic impact. – from Cuoio di Toscana
