In its latest Fall/Winter 2024 collection, titled “Into Nature,” Canali has given an ode to the outdoors, drawing inspiration from the vision of a tranquil walk shrouded in winter mist. The array of textured fabrics such as bouclé, alpaca, mouliné, mélange, and the Double in wool or cashmere, are crafted into an array of elegant menswear.
The collection is rich in textured materials, pliedinto double-breasted peacoats, Sahariana jackets, cocooning Double car coats, fluid and relaxed pants, and suits adorned with Plaid, Prince of Wales, and corduroy motifs. This “outdoor tailoring” approach brings a new dimension to Canali’s menswear. The plaid pattern, a recurring theme in the collection, symbolizes the rhythmic patterns found in nature and is showcased in various shades of dark gray across outerwear, suits, knitwear, and accessories like capes, maxi-scarves, backpacks, and leather coin-purses.
The collection’s pinnacle is the Double wardrobe. This technique is evident in the unlined, seamless woolen or cashmere garments, extending to shoes and accessories as well as shirt-jackets and pants. The exclusive taupe Montgomery, with loops and toggles covered in double fabric showcase Canali’s commitment to handicrafts.
Soft knitwear featuring nature-inspired tricot patterns adds texture to the collection’s more formal elements. Jacquard under-jackets, Double parkas with leather pockets, and shearling-collared bombers blend seamlessly with the collection’s relaxed dresses and micro and macro plaid patterns. The color of choice is a shade of green, inspired by Canali’s Italian origins and Stendhal’s “Journal du voyage dans la Brianza.” This color becomes the protagonist of the palette and the new brand identity, evoking the haze of winter days.
