Louis Vuitton is marking the 20th anniversary of its groundbreaking collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami by unveiling a re-edition of their iconic collection. This global launch is being celebrated with the opening of a two-floor pop-up store in London’s Soho, running from January 9th to February 9th, 2025.
The pop-up features a playful design inspired by Tokyo’s modular hotels, with black and pink colour-blocked floors setting a theatrical stage for over 200 reimagined pieces. Blurring the line between retail and experience, the store includes an archival display, a vending machine with collectible gifts, a café, and a ‘care and repair’ station for original items.
The collection, originally helmed by creative director Marc Jacobs, blends Murakami’s signature vivid colours and Superflat aesthetic with Louis Vuitton’s timeless designs. From Monogram Multicolore on rolling trunks to the Superflat Panda on accessories like trainers and keyrings, the collaboration remains a touchstone for art-meets-fashion innovation.
Visitors can explore an archival module showcasing key pieces from the original collections, such as the Eye Love Monogram and Monogram Multicore 2003. Other highlights include the Monogram Dalmatien, Monogram Cerise, and Monogram Superflat, housed in flower-inspired casings as part of a site-specific exhibition.
Every purchase grants access to bespoke vending machines filled with exclusive Murakami-designed prizes, including trading cards, stickers, and even the Takashi Murakami Flower Go Walk portable game. A film space within the pop-up invites guests to relax on Murakami flower cushions while enjoying digitally enhanced Superflat movies.
The Louis Vuitton x Murakami Café offers baked goods and drinks served in limited-edition cups and napkins bearing Murakami’s distinctive designs. As the only café of its kind in Europe, it enhances the immersive experience, adding a delicious layer to the collection’s celebration.
Located in the heart of Soho, the Louis Vuitton x Murakami pop-up fuses kaleidoscopic artistry with luxury, reinforcing the enduring legacy of one of fashion’s most celebrated collaborations.
