Laura Gerte Fall Winter 2025 collection, LOOPED & BOUND, presented during Berlin Fashion Week on February 3, 2025, at Kranzler X, explores the intersection of human and machine, organic and artificial. This season, the designer constructs a world where these contrasts do not clash but instead reconfigure into something unfamiliar yet compelling. Influenced by cyborg theories, the collection presents a manifesto of transformation, where “future punk” operates as both aesthetic and ideology.

Upcycling remains central to Gerte’s process, with vintage T-shirts, silk scarves, wool, and nylon reshaped into silhouettes that oscillate between vulnerability and strength. The collection embraces deliberate contrasts: twisted tailoring, lingerie-inspired accents, and fluid silk constructions that challenge the boundaries between intimacy and protection. Black, red, and grey define the palette, reinforcing the raw, uncompromising energy at the core of the collection.
Rather than adhering to traditional runway conventions, the LOOPED & BOUND presentation functions as a multidisciplinary experience. Choreographed by movement director Dafni Krazoudi, models and performers roam through an unconventional setting, with guests seated in a spiral formation that leads toward a shifting, central stage. This departure from linearity aligns with the collection’s emphasis on continuous transformation, creating a dynamic interplay between fashion and performance.

The show is further enriched by a collaborative effort that underscores Berlin’s creative ethos of mutual support. Music, spoken word, and visual elements combine to enhance the collection’s thematic depth. DJ Gigola, a prominent Berlin-based producer, provides the sonic atmosphere, while writer and artist Samja Zad delivers a poetic monologue contemplating the evolving relationship between humanity and technology. Set designer Marilena Büld and lighting designer Lars Murasch contribute to the immersive environment, ensuring that the visual storytelling aligns with the conceptual framework.
Sustainability is embedded in the collection’s DNA, reinforcing Gerte’s commitment to responsible design. By reworking existing materials and embracing experimental techniques, the collection not only challenges aesthetic conventions but also reflects a necessary shift in how fashion is conceived and produced. LOOPED & BOUND is not simply about what fashion is, it’s about what it must evolve into.
