Nike introduces the G.T. Future, a basketball shoe designed for athletes who rely on speed, agility, and vertical power. As part of the Greater Than series, the model is built to meet the needs of players who use bounce as their competitive edge and demand a design that matches their intensity.
At the core of the G.T. Future is a combination of Nike’s top-tier cushioning systems. A forefoot Air Zoom unit works in tandem with a full-length Zoom Strobel and Cushlon 3.0 midsole. Together, these elements provide responsiveness and impact protection from the first play to the final whistle. The structure helps athletes take quicker first steps and rise with force, whether they’re attacking the rim or chasing down loose possessions.

The outsole and midsole geometry are built to generate energy efficiently. With a wider base at the heel and forefoot, the shoe offers added stability in the areas where players generate most of their power. An internal bootie and padded heel design help secure the foot during lateral cuts and stop-and-go movement, keeping the fit locked in throughout every phase of play.
The G.T. Future’s design extends beyond performance. The low-top silhouette features an angular construction and a sculpted, technical appearance that draws from automotive and aerospace influences. Jason Petrie, lead designer on the project, emphasized the balance between function and visual impact. He described the shoe as a tool for performance and a product that resonates emotionally with younger athletes.

Nike first previewed the G.T. Future during NBA All-Star Weekend, where the shoe appeared on NIL athlete AJ Dybantsa and rapper Wale. That moment introduced the sneaker to a wider audience, pairing it with faces connected to both elite play and cultural relevance.
Ross Klein, Senior Director of Men’s Basketball Footwear Design, notes that the team approached the project with a focus on how today’s athletes think and express themselves. The G.T. Future reflects input gathered from athletes throughout Nike’s ecosystem, from youth circuits to the professional level.

The Nike G.T. Future is scheduled to launch later this year during the holiday season on nike.com and at select retail locations. Designed to match the pace and mindset of rising athletes, the shoe delivers Nike’s latest performance innovations in a futuristic silhouette built for those shaping the next chapter of the game.
