PUMA partners with NO/FAITH Studios to give the Talon sneaker a new perspective for 2025. The collaboration focuses on the Talon’s history while layering it with contemporary references and textures that bring forward a darker, more experimental edge.

SNEAKERS

The reinterpretation of the Talon centers on distressed denim surfaces treated to create a worn-in patina. NO/FAITH Studios uses this texture as a foundation, adding unique paneling inspired by vintage racing uniforms. The sneaker’s external cage enhances the structure and situates the design in a modern context. This combination results in footwear that feels drawn from Y2K culture but sharpened through current design sensibilities.

The campaign reflects the mood of the collaboration. Photographer Beltran Gonzalez directs the visuals with his recognizable approach to composition. His work presents the Talon in a series of images that emphasize authenticity, vulnerability, and introspection. Gonzalez stages the sneaker in settings that align with NO/FAITH Studios’ darker aesthetic, using lighting and tone to amplify the sense of melancholy.

The Talon carries significance within PUMA’s catalog. First introduced in 2004, the sneaker emerged during a period defined by Y2K references and futuristic curves. Its low-profile silhouette distinguished it from bulkier footwear of the time, while the rippling lines across its upper created a recognizable identity. Although the model eventually receded from the main lineup, its design language remained distinctive enough to invite reinterpretation.

NO/FAITH Studios responds directly to that history. By grounding the Talon in materials that feel aged yet deliberate, the studio channels its design vocabulary into a sneaker that feels both archival and forward-looking. The denim treatment references workwear and subcultural uniforms, while the racing-inspired paneling nods to adrenaline-driven aesthetics. The external cage provides a structural anchor, tying the shoe to contemporary sneaker construction.

By choosing NO/FAITH Studios as a collaborator, PUMA underscores the Talon’s potential for reinterpretation. The sneaker’s original Y2K framework carries enough identity to be recognizable, while its relative absence from current releases leaves room for transformation. NO/FAITH Studios takes that opportunity to draw out textures, moods, and references that align with its aesthetic. The distressed denim surfaces connect with its interest in raw finishes, while the racing references align with its broader interest in uniforms and their coded meanings.

The NO/FAITH Studios x PUMA Talon is available now, first introduced through GATE 194 and continuing across PUMA’s website, flagship stores, and selected retail partners. The rollout brings the collaboration to a wider audience while keeping the sense of exclusivity tied to its initial release.
