Fredericia marks the 75th anniversary of Børge Mogensen’s The Hunting Chair with a new, limited release that bridges past and present. Originally presented in 1950 at the Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition in Copenhagen, the chair became a benchmark for modern design, merging craftsmanship, simplicity, and a profound sense of material integrity. Mogensen designed it for a symbolic hunting lodge, but its influence stretched far beyond, shaping what would become the language of Danish modernism.
CHAIRS
This anniversary edition reintroduces The Hunting Chair with contemporary refinement while remaining true to its spirit. Each chair is produced in Denmark from FSC-certified ash with dark brown saddle leather, accented by light brown stitching and polished chrome buckles. Subtle details, like Mogensen’s engraved signature and a numbered steel plate, distinguish the edition as both collectible and personal.

For Fredericia’s CEO Rasmus Graversen, the piece carries intimate meaning. His family’s history with Mogensen stretches back generations, with prototypes of The Hunting Chair once part of his childhood home. “It’s a piece that’s been lived with, moved around, and loved,” he reflects. That lived-in quality continues to define the way Fredericia approaches design, as something that becomes part of daily life.

The new release revives an ash version that was previously produced only once in the late 1970s, a collaboration between Mogensen and Fredericia’s then-owner, Andreas Graversen. This rare material choice and artisanal construction pay tribute to the origins of Danish craftsmanship, rooted in longevity and care.
Available from November 1, 2025, the Hunting Chair 75th Anniversary Edition is limited to just 75 pieces, priced at €4,995. It is an homage to Mogensen’s humanist design philosophy and a reminder of furniture’s enduring role as a companion to life.
