Audi Sport introduces the new Audi RS 5 as its first high-performance plug-in hybrid. The model carries full RS DNA while integrating advanced hybrid technology. It adapts to varied driving conditions, from canyon roads to long highway stretches and all-electric urban travel. The RS 5 covers a broad range of dynamics, operating as both a refined daily companion and a focused performance machine.

For the first time at Audi Sport, the RS 5 pairs a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 375 kW (510 PS) with a 130 kW electric motor, delivering a combined 470 kW. An eight-speed hybridized gearbox connects to a newly developed quattro system with Dynamic Torque Control. The setup introduces electromechanical torque vectoring at the rear, a world first for a production car. A preloaded center differential manages longitudinal torque, while a new rear differential distributes torque between the wheels within milliseconds for precise control.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner describes the RS 5 as the new pinnacle of the A5 series and Audi Sport’s first high-performance plug-in hybrid. He points to the coordination between combustion and electric power as a new step in balancing performance and efficiency. Audi Sport Managing Director Rolf Michl calls the model the start of a new chapter for RS, citing improved daily usability through electric driving alongside enhanced dynamics.
The RS 5 stands around nine centimeters wider than the base A5 at both ends, with flared fenders emphasizing its stance. A three-dimensional Singleframe grille with honeycomb structure and integrated Air Curtains defines the front. At the rear, an aerodynamic diffuser and matte oval RS sport exhaust tailpipes complete the look. Darkened Matrix LED headlights feature a digital daytime running light signature in a checkered flag design.

The electrified drivetrain centers on the updated V6, electric motor, and a new rear transaxle with electromechanical torque vectoring. An actuator and differential shift torque between the rear wheels almost fully variably. A control unit recalculates torque distribution every five milliseconds, enabling precise real-time response.
RS-specific front and rear axles, RS sport suspension with twin-valve dampers, RS-tuned steering, and 20- or 21-inch wheels define the chassis setup. Steel or ceramic brakes are available. The twin-valve dampers reduce pitch and roll and react quickly to road conditions, supporting both comfort and performance.

The optional Audi Sport package for RS 5 Avant and RS 5 Sedan adds revised bumpers, 21-inch two-tone wheels, an RS sport exhaust system, and a raised top speed of 285 km/h. Interior details include Serpentine green and brass contrast stitching. Buyers can also choose Bedford green metallic paint, RS ceramic brakes with bronze calipers, and carbon camouflage elements.
The standard Audi driving experience function displays route data on the 14.5-inch MMI touch display. On track, drivers can record sector times and drift angles in RS torque rear mode. In Germany, the RS 5 Sedan starts at 106,200 euros and the RS 5 Avant at 107,850 euros. Production takes place in Neckarsulm. European orders open in the first quarter of 2026, with deliveries planned for summer 2026.
