ECCO continues to refine its technology-driven approach with the launch of the BIOM 720 lineup. For the Danish footwear and leather goods brand, design begins with the wearer. Each release centers on comfort, ease, practicality, and clean performance. With BIOM 720 GTX, ECCO builds on a system first introduced in 2009 and pushes it into a new generation of walking-focused sneakers.

BIOM, short for biomechanical optimization, emerged after ECCO scanned the feet of 2,500 athletes to understand how the body naturally moves. Inspired by barefoot runners, the technology supports the foot’s natural motion by shaping the shoe around the anatomy of the wearer. The result delivers stability, flexibility, and a precise fit that works with each stride. From the first wear, the structure encourages balance and fluid transitions, whether for daily commutes or extended outdoor walks.

The BIOM 720 collection integrates ECCO ENCORE technology as a core component. ENCORE enhances cushioning, breathability, and flexibility while maintaining energy return. Strategically placed outsole vents, a detail ECCO first introduced in 2011, improve airflow and shock absorption underfoot. This ventilation system allows air to circulate directly through the sole unit, supporting temperature control during movement. The construction keeps each step responsive and supported throughout the day.
The Spring/Summer 2026 lineup introduces two key styles for men and women. The ECCO BIOM 720 GTX serves as a waterproof all-rounder built for unpredictable weather. BIOM and ENCORE technologies combine with GORE-TEX SURROUND construction to deliver protection from all angles. The system shields against moisture while maintaining built-in breathability, making the shoe suitable for year-round wear. Its structure handles wet conditions without compromising airflow or comfort.

Alongside it, the ECCO BIOM 720 BREATHRU offers a lighter, summer-ready option. BIOM and ENCORE technology pair with a durable yet lightweight BREATHRU performance mesh upper designed for moisture management. The breathable mesh structure supports airflow during warmer months while preserving the same biomechanical support and cushioning system found in the GTX model.
The ECCO BIOM 720 GTX became available on February 5, while the ECCO BIOM 720 BREATHRU launches March 2. Both styles are available through ecco.com, ECCO retail stores, and select partners. With this release, ECCO reinforces its commitment to movement-focused design and advances BIOM technology into a new chapter built for daily performance.
