sacai Men’s Spring Summer 2027 Redefines The New Classics

Abe turns preppy tailoring, Soul II Soul graphics and BIRKENSTOCK utility into a menswear study of movement and disruption.

sacai Men’s Spring Summer 2027 takes the title The New Classics and treats it as a direct challenge to menswear tradition. Abe does not update familiar wardrobe staples through surface changes. She cuts into them, interrupts them and gives them new energy through hybrid construction. The collection places conservative tailoring in direct contact with contemporary culture, creating a wardrobe that refuses stillness.

SPRING SUMMER 2027

The strongest tension comes from the collision between preppy codes and industrial utility. sacai takes pieces associated with establishment dressing and loosens their authority through unexpected function. A blazer, shaped by the language of Brooks Brothers tailoring, becomes a key example. Abe keeps its recognizable form, then alters its structure through sacai’s familiar hybrid method. The addition of liberated ties at the neckline changes the garment’s behavior, turning a stable menswear archetype into something active and less obedient.

This idea runs through the collection. Traditional jackets, tailored pieces and wardrobe mainstays appear with technical details that disturb their original logic. Functional chin ties bring another layer of disruption. They add movement, utility and a sense of intervention to garments that usually depend on control. Abe uses these details to free form from fixed meaning. Clothes no longer sit as static classics. They shift, pull, wrap and respond.

The collection expands through its connection to Soul II Soul. The phrase “A happy face, a thumpin’ bass, for a loving race” brings the London sound system’s message of positivity, inclusivity, happiness and love into sacai’s menswear language. Soul II Soul’s influence has reached audiences for over four decades, and Abe finds a shared rhythm between the collective’s cultural force and sacai’s own approach to transformation.

A new fabric features archive images from Soul II Soul’s Sunday night sessions at The Africa Centre in London’s Covent Garden. Those sessions brought people from different backgrounds together through music, and the collection carries that memory through graphic surfaces. T-shirts and sweats feature the Funki Dred emblem with phrases and song titles including “Back to Life” and “Keep on Moving.” These pieces give the collection a warmer pulse, grounding its structural ideas in sound, community and movement.

BIRKENSTOCK brings the collection back to function. The collaboration draws from a brand rooted in quality and tradition dating back to 1774, then shifts its familiar forms through sacai’s hybrid approach. The footwear combines two of BIRKENSTOCK’s most recognized styles into one multidimensional silhouette. The result mirrors the collection’s larger argument: familiar design gains new force when Abe pulls it out of its expected structure.

The matching utility bag extends that idea. Lined with the same taupe and black suede used on the sandals, it carries BIRKENSTOCK’s recognizable bone-pattern outsole across the exterior bottom. An adjustable strap and square buckle connect the accessory to the brand’s orthopedic roots, while sacai’s handling turns function into a visual tool.

The New Classics works because Abe understands that classics only stay alive when designers test them. sacai Men’s Spring Summer 2027 does not reject tailoring, utility or cultural memory. It activates them. Through Brooks Brothers references, Soul II Soul graphics and BIRKENSTOCK function, the collection turns menswear into something mobile, layered and open to change.
