Adidas TERREX introduces the Freehiker 3, a new generation of hiking footwear for trails, varied terrain and daily city use. The line extends the Freehiker franchise into four silhouettes and gives hikers several options built on the same foundation of comfort, protection and durability.

The family includes the Freehiker 3 Ultra GTX, Freehiker 3 Mid GTX, Freehiker 3 Low GTX and the new Freehiker SL. The Ultra GTX serves as the franchise’s most technical offering. The Mid GTX, Low GTX and SL address different exploration needs. adidas created each model for a specific type of use and retained the same core performance features throughout the family.

adidas equips the Freehiker 3 line with Hyperboost and Dreamstrike+ cushioning. Hyperboost delivers responsive energy return and supports comfort during long days on rolling terrain. The Dreamstrike+ midsole provides soft, adaptive cushioning on varied ground and helps the footwear handle changes between trail surfaces and daily urban settings.
GORE-TEX protection helps keep feet dry during wet, muddy and unpredictable conditions. A Continental rubber outsole supplies dependable traction on technical trails and urban surfaces. Together, these components support use in changing weather and on different types of ground.

The Freehiker 3 family also reflects adidas TERREX’s focus on footwear that works in outdoor and everyday environments. Hikers can choose the technical Ultra GTX, Mid GTX, Low GTX or new SL silhouette. This four-model structure gives the franchise a wider range of applications and maintains a shared approach to cushioning, grip and weather protection.
Tom Louage, Senior Director Product at adidas, says the team focused on the comfort that established the Freehiker franchise from its first generation. He points to long days on rolling terrain as a key use case for the new line. Louage says adidas reduced the shoe’s weight significantly and retained the stability that hikers depend on.

Louage also identifies the new Hyperboost Pro midsole as a major update. adidas drew inspiration from its leading running innovations and applied that knowledge to hiking footwear. According to Louage, the midsole gives hikers a new level of cushioning and energy return outdoors. He also says adidas delivers these updates at a more accessible price point.
The Freehiker 3 extends one performance foundation into several silhouettes for different hiking needs. Hyperboost and Dreamstrike+ provide cushioning and energy return, GORE-TEX supports wet-weather use, and Continental rubber gives hikers reliable contact with the ground. The range connects technical trail requirements with footwear that also suits everyday environments.
adidas offers the TERREX Freehiker 3 at select retail locations, including REI and Backcountry.com, as well as through adidas.com/terrex. Prices range from $150 to $220.
