ASICS and HIDDEN NY return with the GEL-KINETIC 2.0, a unisex sneaker created specifically for walking. The release follows HIDDEN’s first ASICS project, the HIDDEN GEL-NYC, which took visual cues from the design tools used by its audience every day. For the GEL-KINETIC 2.0, the reference point shifts to an earlier period of digital art software and early computer hardware.
SNEAKERS
The sneaker arrives in two versions. The General Release comes in white and green, the classic HIDDEN palette. The Limited Edition uses beige and grey tones that refer to early computer hardware. Both colorways share the same technical structure and design details, with visible and hidden features built into the GEL-KINETIC 2.0.
The model reflects a future-facing approach to footwear development. ASICS used the capabilities of the ISS during the development process, with advanced foot pressure testing data informing the placement of GEL pods underfoot. This testing helped shape the support structure of the sneaker and guided how cushioning appears beneath the foot.
The GEL-KINETIC 2.0 uses Scutoid GEL Technology, which has a twisted and angular form designed to offer greater flexibility. The component inside the shoe is placed upside down to reduce pressure on any single location and increase overall comfort. This structure gives the sneaker a technical foundation based on support, flexibility, and comfort during walking.
The cushioning system also includes FF BLAST PLUS technology, set inside a TPU cage. This combination brings softness and stability into the shoe’s construction. The result creates a balance between a cushioned step and a stable feel, keeping the sneaker aligned with its walking-specific design.
The heel adds another technical detail. ASICS designed it with two layers to support different heel shapes. This construction works whether the laces are worn loose or tight, allowing the sneaker to adapt to different preferences and fit needs. The detail supports the broader design approach of the GEL-KINETIC 2.0, which combines soft and firm elements throughout the shoe.
The ASICS x HIDDEN NY GEL-KINETIC 2.0 is available in White/Castle Rock and Light Gray/Castle Rock. The unisex sneaker is priced at US $270 and comes in sizes 3H-12, 13, and 14. Through its two colorways, walking-specific build, GEL pod placement, Scutoid GEL Technology, FF BLAST PLUS cushioning, TPU cage, and layered heel design, the release connects early digital references with a technical footwear structure created for everyday walking.
