PUMA introduces the Velocity 5 as the latest version of its bestselling everyday running shoe. The global sports brand presents the model as a versatile neutral trainer for runners who want comfort, cushioning and responsiveness on daily runs. The shoe carries the brand’s message for this launch with a direct focus on feel: running should feel natural from the first mile to the final stretch.

The Velocity 5 uses an evolved NITROFOAM™ setup to give runners a smooth and cushioned ride. PUMA raises the stack height slightly from the previous Velocity, which increases underfoot comfort and keeps the shoe light. The construction also supports an efficient transition, a key point for runners who need a trainer that can handle regular mileage, recovery days and longer sessions.

PUMA aims the Velocity 5 at neutral runners and gives the shoe a broad training range. Runners can use it for easy recovery runs, mileage building ahead of race day and longer weekend efforts. The shoe focuses on dependable cushioning and durability, which gives it a clear role in everyday performance. With this release, PUMA continues a franchise that many runners already use as a daily trainer.
Conor Cashin, Product Manager at PUMA, says the Velocity franchise has become a favourite among runners because it gives them what they need from an everyday trainer. He explains that PUMA refined the fifth version with enhanced cushioning, lightweight construction and everyday versatility. According to Cashin, the Velocity 5 gives runners the same comfort on short runs and longer distances.

The updated platform gives the shoe one of its key technical changes. PUMA widens the NITROFOAM™ base and raises the stack in the forefoot to improve underfoot cushioning and deliver maximum energy return. The premium engineered mesh upper adds breathability and stretch, which supports comfort during regular training. The durable PUMAGRIP outsole gives reliable traction on varied surfaces, which makes the Velocity 5 a practical choice for daily miles.
The shoe uses a 35mm heel stack and a 27mm forefoot stack, creating an 8mm drop. PUMA lists the weight at 230g in UK 8 and 190g in UK 4.5, giving the Velocity 5 a lightweight profile for an everyday running shoe. The brand also gives the model an expected lifespan of up to 800km, or 500 miles, which supports its role as a long term training partner.
PUMA releases the Velocity 5 on 9 July and prices it at €140. Runners can buy the shoe via PUMA.com, PUMA flagship stores and selected retailers in global markets.
