New Balance introduces the Maxey v1, the first signature basketball shoe for two time All Star Tyrese Maxey. Designed around his speed, agility and explosive game, the model combines responsive cushioning, multidirectional support and design references from several New Balance lifestyle silhouettes.

The Maxey v1 uses a dual rail plate system that helps propel athletes forward and supports rapid lateral changes in direction. New Balance pairs the system with responsive FuelCell cushioning and stability features that address the demands of fast basketball play. A refined fit, sculpted heel profile and additional volume through the midfoot and arch create a secure fit. A centerline flex groove supports natural multidirectional flexibility.

Sculpted outriggers help with lateral containment, while multidirectional traction extends from heel to toe. These elements give the shoe a technical foundation aimed at players who rely on acceleration, changes of direction and fast reactions during games.
New Balance also draws from several of its lifestyle models for the Maxey v1 design. The top lacing takes cues from the 2002, while the sculpted outriggers reference the design language of the 9060. A blue flying NB badge appears on the heel, continuing a detail that New Balance has used on other models. “Maxey” appears on the tongue and sockliner, while “V1” marks the lace keeper.

Maxey worked closely with the New Balance product team during development. He wanted the shoe to carry a recognizable New Balance identity even before viewers noticed the brand’s “N” logo. He cites the 9060 as a major source of inspiration and explains that he wanted to bring elements from New Balance lifestyle footwear onto the basketball court. He also focused on how the shoe looks and feels both during basketball and away from the game.
“I wanted my shoe to have an iconic look that you don’t need to see the ‘N’ to know it’s a New Balance shoe,” says Tyrese Maxey. He adds that the 9060 served as a key reference during the design process and says he worked closely with the product team on appearance and comfort.

Kevin Trotman, Senior Product Manager for New Balance Basketball, describes the Maxey v1 as an addition to the company’s basketball lineup that reflects the needs of the modern player. According to Trotman, the shoe delivers high level traction and performance while using a caged upper design language with a current, avant garde character.
The launch colorway combines a black base with vibrant blue accents. Maxey first wore the colorway on court during the 2026 Play In Tournament, giving audiences an early look at his debut signature model before its retail release. New Balance plans to introduce additional colorways throughout the year.

The brand will launch the model globally on October 2 for $129.99 through newbalance.com and select retailers.
