Rains presented their Autumn-Winter 2024 collection, “FIGURES,” on January 18th on Boulevard Haussmann in Paris. This collection showcases a progressive approach to rainwear with a focus on street style. The presentation format itself is a departure from traditional runway shows, featuring models scanned on a factory tableau vivant and transformed into 3D-printed figurines. Each figure in the presentation adds a unique identity, highlighting individuality within a uniform trove of PU-clad characters.

Philip Lotko and Daniel Hesselager, the minds behind Rains, emphasize the importance of practicality, usefulness, and playfulness in their designs. The collection leverages next-generation biomaterials, continuing Rains’ collaboration with Zellerfeld to intensify the 3D-printed slide, demonstrating how creativity can be reimagined to better navigate the world.

Rains has also collaborated with makeup artist Min Kim and hairstylist Kim Rance to abstract the ordinary, giving the AW24 cast a manufactured beauty that complements the collection’s concept-driven understanding of texture, severity, and process.
