Nike SB is bringing back one of its foundational skate models with the return of the P-Rod 1 Zoom Air Low, launching May 20 in the original white and black colorway. Nearly two decades after its debut, the shoe reappears in a version that stays loyal to the original blueprint, honoring Paul Rodriguez’s early impact on Nike’s skateboarding division.
As the first Nike SB athlete to earn a full signature line, Rodriguez – often referred to as P-Rod – has had a longstanding relationship with the brand since 2005. This latest release reflects that legacy through exacting construction, enhanced materials, and visual cues that mark the evolution of both the skater and the silhouette.

The upper is built from smooth white leather with a mesh tongue and black mesh Swoosh, matching the original makeup of the debut model. Signature patterned sidewalls wrap around the heel and midfoot, echoing the design used in the earliest iterations. Platinum accents are placed on the eyestay and heel tab for a subtle nod to Rodriguez’s two-decade tenure with the brand.
Structurally, the model features a rounded toebox and cupsole foundation, tuned for boardfeel and protection. A semi-translucent outsole reveals an embedded carbon plate that helps with shock absorption – an upgrade designed for skate impact without altering the original feel. The flick, control, and weight of the shoe all reference the first run of the model, down to the shape and padding.

Special additions include custom dubraes engraved with “SHS” in platinum, tying into the celebratory theme and adding a layer of detail for collectors and fans. These subtle changes distinguish the release from general retros, reinforcing its place as both a technical skate shoe and a tribute to one of Nike SB’s longest-standing athletes.
The P-Rod 1 Zoom Air Low will retail for $120 and will be available starting May 20 on Nike SNKRS and select skate retailers.
