Pleats Please Issey Miyake introduces the “Brand New Day” limited series on July 10, starting at the brand’s New York location. The project was developed with illustrator Hikaru Ichijo, whose drawings trace scenes from a woman’s daily life. From getting ready in the morning to resting at night, each illustration shows women dressed in Pleats Please, engaged in familiar routines.
Ichijo has been active as an illustrator since 2018. Her work includes book covers, advertisements, and packaging, with a focus on graphic clarity and color. She intentionally avoids drawing faces, preferring to emphasize posture, setting, and clothing. This approach reflects her choice to move away from conventional standards of beauty and instead focus on the atmosphere of each scene.

The collection features styles such as a dress, tank top, crop top, pant, t-shirt, stole, and bag. Visual elements from Ichijo’s artwork appear throughout, with five original illustrations developed into full-print designs. Each item comes in five colorways inspired by the drawings, using combinations like pink with light blue, red with pink, blue with green, yellow, and gray. Prices range from $350 to $695.
Visitors to the New York store can experience an immersive installation built around the series. The space is designed to reflect the illustrated scenes, allowing the drawings and garments to coexist in one setting. According to the brand, it invites visitors to feel as though they have stepped into the world of the illustrations.

The limited collection is available exclusively in-store. Following the New York launch, it will be presented in Aoyama, Umeda, and Shinjuku in Japan, then in Seoul and Bangkok. Availability may differ by location, and the selection at Hankyu Umeda’s first-floor space is unique. Customers are advised to contact each store for exact details.
“Brand New Day” offers a visual approach to clothing that reflects simple, familiar experiences. Through Ichijo’s drawings and the structure of the garments, the series brings focus to the kind of moments that quietly shape each day.
