The designer began creating wedding shoes in 1990, before founding his house, when he designed pairs for close friends preparing for their ceremonies. That early involvement established a connection between the brand and wedding footwear that continued through later decades. Christian Louboutin has since created bespoke designs for a number of figures connected to the house.

One of the earliest widely recognized wedding moments came in 2005 when Dita Von Teese chose a pair of Louboutin stilettos with the red sole. The choice placed the designer’s footwear within the context of a major public ceremony. In the years that followed, friends of the house including Kate Moss, Priyanka Chopra, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and Idris and Sabrina Elba turned to Christian Louboutin for custom wedding shoes designed specifically for their celebrations.
Through these commissions the house approached wedding footwear as a field for creativity. Christian Louboutin treats each pair as a design object shaped through drawing, material selection, and artisanal production. The process begins with a sketch that establishes the form and decorative direction of the shoe. Skilled artisans then translate the drawing into a finished object using techniques developed within the house’s ateliers.

The new collection introduces a variety of silhouettes designed for wedding ceremonies and related events. Stilettos, sandals, and ballet flats form the foundation of the line. Each design integrates surface treatments that emphasize texture and visual detail. Soft leather provides a tactile base, while embroidery adds pattern and depth across the upper. Luminous appliqués appear throughout the collection and introduce reflective accents that interact with light during movement.
Transparent elements also appear in selected designs, creating additional variation in the visual composition of the shoes. These details shape the overall identity of the collection and bring a contemporary dimension to the silhouettes. The combination of embroidery, appliqués, and transparent components transforms each model into a distinct object designed for a ceremonial context.

Christian Louboutin also introduces a special-order service that allows clients to design a pair tailored to their own wedding plans. Selected boutiques around the world offer this experience. The process guides clients through a series of design decisions that shape the final shoe. Materials, embellishments, and decorative elements can be selected according to the preferences of the client.
The customization options include embroidered initials placed directly onto the shoe. Clients may also request soles finished in the house’s “lucky blue hue,” a color variation connected to wedding traditions. This approach transforms the wedding shoe into an object that carries significance beyond the ceremony itself. The finished design represents a physical reminder of the event while preserving the craftsmanship associated with the house.
