Ariana Grande confirmed her eighth studio album Petal on April 28 through Instagram. The announcement follows weeks of subtle signals across her social platforms, including studio images and a flower emoji that pointed toward the project. Grande had previously suggested that a summer release would demand more time than she could manage, yet recent activity indicated a shift in direction.

Her current schedule explains that hesitation. In November, she closed the Wicked: For Good chapter, adding a major film release to her calendar. Universal Pictures also released the trailer for her next film, Focker-in-Law, which continues the Meet the Parents series and arrives this Thanksgiving. Looking ahead, Grande plans a West End debut in a revival of Sunday in the Park With George in 2027. At the same time, her brand R.E.M. Beauty continues to release products and campaigns that feature her directly.
Petal follows her 2024 album Eternal Sunshine, which introduced “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” The new album arrives as the Eternal Sunshine era continues on stage, with its tour starting June 8 in Oakland and ending September 1 in London.
The release date for Petal is set for July 31. Grande shared the album cover on Instagram the same day as the announcement. The artwork presents a close-up black and white image of her smiling, with her hair falling across her face.

Grande describes the album as a project shaped by growth under pressure. In her words, it centers on “growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.” She also frames it as “something that is full of life.”
The album includes 12 tracks, according to the Spotify countdown page. Grande worked closely with producer and collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh, continuing a partnership that dates back to Sweetener in 2018. She served as executive producer and co-writer, maintaining a hands-on role across the project. Fans can pre-order Petal in several formats, including vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital editions.
