Garner stars as Hollis Shaw, a famed cook and best-selling author known for her recipes, taste, and warm public image. Hollis has built a life that appears polished from the outside, yet a devastating loss pushes that image into crisis. As she struggles to move forward, grief exposes the pressure beneath her daily life, including a strained marriage, a complicated relationship with her daughter, and a growing need for validation from her fans.
The story follows Hollis as she tries to regain a sense of control by inviting friends to her house on Nantucket for a weekend away. She brings together women from different periods in her life, including childhood, her twenties, and her thirties, along with one surprise fifth star. The gathering starts as an attempt to confront grief and reconnect with herself, then turns into a test of loyalty, memory, and personal boundaries.
Set in a luxurious coastal environment, the series follows the group as the weekend forces difficult truths into the open. Secrets surface, relationships shift, and each guest faces parts of her life that she may have avoided. The premise places friendship, loss, ambition, and reinvention inside one confined social setting, allowing the drama to build through conversation, history, and emotional pressure.

Jennifer Garner leads an ensemble that includes D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Harlow Jane, and Timothy Olyphant. Rob Huebel, David Denman, Josh Hamilton, West Duchovny, Judy Greer, Tory Devon Smith, Morrison Keddie, and Roberta Colindrez also appear in the series, which will stream exclusively in the UK and Ireland on Sky and NOW this July.
Lucy Criddle, Director of Acquisitions & Strategic Projects at Sky, described the series as a glossy, character-led drama and pointed to its ensemble cast led by Garner. “We’re delighted to be bringing this glossy, character-led drama to our Sky and NOW audiences this summer, based on the best-selling novel of the same name. With an ensemble cast, led by Jennifer Garner, it is the perfect addition to our slate,” she said.

Bekah Brunstetter, Sue Naegle, Ali Krug, Jennifer Garner, Elin Hilderbrand, Merri Howard, Beth Schacter, and Minkie Spiro serve as executive producers. Universal Content Productions, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces the series. Lucy Criddle acquired The Five Star Weekend for Sky in her role as Director of Acquisitions & Strategic Projects.
The Five Star Weekend arrives on Sky and NOW in July, bringing Hilderbrand’s Nantucket story to UK and Ireland audiences through a drama built around grief, friendship, public image, and the private fractures behind a carefully curated life.
