The S.T. Charge, short for “Street Tough,” is Nike’s latest high-performance basketball model engineered for outdoor streetball. The silhouette first appeared on court during 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend, worn by Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham. Built for concrete and asphalt play, the model combines rugged durability with the responsiveness expected from a modern basketball shoe.

Nike pairs that forefoot cushioning with a Cushlon 3.0 drop-in midsole. The drop-in construction creates an internal cushioning system that supports comfort during long sessions on hard courts. Together, Air Zoom and Cushlon 3.0 give the S.T. Charge Detroit Tough PE EP a setup built around speed and impact protection.
The outsole plays a key part in the model’s outdoor focus. Nike uses translucent XDR-X rubber for traction and durability on rougher courts. The shoe also features an extra-durable rubber outsole, giving players support for outdoor hoops where concrete and asphalt can wear down footwear quickly.

Cunningham’s player edition adds a strong Detroit identity to that performance base. The shoe is layered with Detroit lore and equipped with 313 street-ready speed and comfort. The “Detroit Tough” name connects Cunningham to the city’s basketball attitude, while the Motor City reference gives the release a local edge tied to grit, endurance, and hard surfaces.
The sneaker also introduces Nike’s all-new Monster Skin, a feature that brings Motor City grit to the grimiest courts. Within the design, Monster Skin adds to the shoe’s tougher character and supports the outdoor function of the model. The detail works with the XDR-X rubber outsole to reinforce the S.T. Charge as a shoe made for demanding court conditions.

Nike frames Cunningham as an ideal player for the S.T. Charge because he can hoop in any climate and on any court. His Detroit Tough PE EP takes that idea literally, combining a durable outsole, responsive cushioning, and street-ready construction. The result gives his player edition a clear role: outdoor basketball with comfort, traction, and Detroit-coded design.
