The company confirmed the change in Milan, where it stated that both sides reached the decision together. Appiolaza exits the role after guiding the creative direction of Moschino through a period defined by transition, renewed attention and close scrutiny around the house’s next chapter. His departure now places focus on the brand’s future leadership, as Moschino prepares to announce a new Creative Director in due course.
Massimo Ferretti, Executive Chairman of Aeffe S.p.A., thanked Appiolaza for his work with the house. Ferretti recognized the designer’s contribution to Moschino during the past two years and wished him success in his next professional steps.
Appiolaza also addressed the decision, describing his time at Moschino as a remarkable opportunity. He said Aeffe gave him the chance to express his creativity for an important Italian brand with a strong creative history. He also thanked Aeffe and Ferretti directly for the opportunity, while extending his gratitude to the creative team that worked with him during what he called an intense experience.
His comments placed emphasis on the people behind the work, from the company leadership to the team that shared the day-to-day process with him. Appiolaza’s statement also acknowledged the weight of the Moschino name, a house known for a distinct creative language and a highly recognizable place in Italian fashion.
For Moschino, the decision marks a leadership shift as Aeffe manages the transition and prepares to name a new Creative Director. For Appiolaza, the announcement closes his time at one of Italy’s most recognizable fashion houses, with thanks from Aeffe and his own message of gratitude to the team that shared the experience with him.
