Nike releases the women’s First Sight Mirage in Light Crimson on September 15, 2026, adding the second silhouette to its new First Sight footwear collection. The model follows the Noir, which launched the series in March, and develops the project through a different combination of athletic footwear and formal shoe references. Nike builds the Mirage around elements of a football boot and an Oxford, giving the sneaker a sculpted upper, elevated sole and pronounced stud structure.

Light Crimson covers the upper and continues through the tips of the studs beneath the shoe. Synthetic suede and nubuck sit alongside lighter textile sections, creating shifts in texture throughout the monochromatic treatment. An icy plate runs through the midsole area and meets a clear rubber outsole, exposing the structure underneath and separating the upper visually from the raised sole.

The outsole carries one of the Mirage’s most distinctive technical ideas. Nike constructs each individual stud from 3D-sculpted TPU and fills it with foam, turning a shape associated with football footwear into part of the sneaker’s cushioning system. The studs raise the shoe from the ground while creating the cleat-derived profile that defines the silhouette. Nike developed this construction specifically for the Mirage as part of its First Sight project.

Football also informs the upper in less obvious ways. Nike looked at the scuffs and abrasions that appear on boots during a match and used those surface effects as part of the Mirage’s design language. The Oxford reference enters through the shape and structure of the upper, giving the shoe a connection to traditional dress footwear while the sole draws from sport. Together, those two sources give the Mirage a form that differs sharply from Nike’s conventional lifestyle sneakers.
Nike introduced First Sight in March 2026 as a three-model women’s footwear project comprising Noir, Mirage and Shadow. Each model starts from a different sport and combines it with another footwear category. Noir draws from track spikes and loafers, Mirage takes from football boots and Oxfords, and Shadow uses references from basketball shoes and classic boots. Nike developed the collection specifically around new shapes for women’s sportswear, with designers gathering input from different markets during the development process.

Color also plays a specific role in the wider project. Nike based the launch colorways on the heightened emotion athletes experience before competition, using saturated finishes and reflective or translucent surfaces throughout the collection. On the Mirage, that approach gives Light Crimson control of nearly the entire upper while the transparent outsole and icy plate introduce clearer, harder surfaces beneath it.
