Selkie debuted The Ghost Ship for Fall Winter 2026 at Studio 525 during New York Fashion Week, introducing a darker and more surreal direction for the romantic fantasy that has long defined the brand.
FALL WINTER 2026
Founder and creative director Kimberley Gordon built the collection around the idea of lives left unlived. A passage by Cheryl Strayed provided the starting point, reflecting on the alternate paths people never take and the versions of themselves they never become. Gordon developed that idea into a collection about choice, regret and the freedom to determine one’s own life.

For Fall 2026, she imagined a traveling pirate circus made up of warrior girls who live off the grid and sail through space during an imagined apocalypse. The characters carry memories of a regretted past while facing an uncertain future. They survive through performance, creation and the ability to generate joy, giving the collection a narrative shaped by judgment, freedom and self-direction.
Gordon draws from maritime folklore, historical fantasy and circus imagery throughout the collection. Pirate and harlequin references appear alongside armor, corsetry, romantic dresses and theatrical silhouettes. Chain mail, religious jewelry, ocean shells and oversized accessories deepen the darker tone while keeping Selkie’s feminine perspective intact.
Beauty continued the same character-driven approach. Linh Nguyen returned to create wigs for the runway with Cutler Salon and Redken. Alexandra French returned as lead makeup artist in partnership with Urban Decay and developed what she described as a “ghost clown porcelain doll” look.

French created luminous-matte porcelain skin with softly diffused circular blush and painterly eyes. Sharp double-wing liner introduced a harder graphic element, while a dimensional lip carried a softly bitten finish. French described the contrast between the clothes and beauty as a way to bring lived-in grunge into Selkie’s feminine world. Sorel also partnered with Selkie backstage, dressing models in pink Ambler Women’s Waterproof Clogs before and after the runway.
Performance became one of Gordon’s central ideas for The Ghost Ship. The collection responds to a culture shaped by social media, judgment and pressure to perform for other people. Gordon turns performance into an act of agency instead, framing self-presentation as something an individual can choose for themselves.

Her show notes reduce that idea to a direct line: “Feminism is the freedom to choose the life you want.” The collection carries that position through characters who construct their own identities, create their own forms of joy and reject expectations around how they should appear or behave.
The Ghost Ship treats dressing as part of that freedom. Gordon invites the wearer to follow the choices that define them and to approach clothing with fewer restrictions. Her closing idea, “perform with absolute abandon,” gives the collection its final direction. Selkie continued its runway-to-retail model with the show, making the Fall Winter 2026 collection available to shop as it debuted on the runway.
