Balenciaga partners with French shoemaker J.M. Weston for a footwear collaboration introduced as part of Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Winter 2026 collection, Clair Obscur. The project brings together recognizable details from both houses through four shoe styles made from calf and Nappa leather: a brogue, an asymmetrical d’Orsay, a loafer and a mule.
SHOES
J.M. Weston dates to 1891 and continues to produce footwear at its original atelier in Limoges, where the company works with its own materials and production methods. For the Balenciaga project, traditional shoemaking forms provide the starting point for details associated with Piccioli’s Winter 2026 collection.
The lace-up wingtip brogue comes in men’s and women’s sizes. Perforations retain the familiar brogue construction, while worn edges and visible threads disrupt its polished form. Metal studs associated with Balenciaga’s Le City bag cover the upper, introducing one of the house’s recognizable accessories codes into the shoe.
The men’s d’Orsay takes a more asymmetrical approach. Wingtip perforations trace a double-B logomark across each toe. Small metal nail heads form the shoe size directly on the heel, turning a functional piece of information into an exterior detail.
Balenciaga and J.M. Weston also reinterpret the brogue as a men’s slip-on mule. The design folds the facing outward and allows the heel section to fold inward. This construction leaves the natural interior color of the leather visible and exposes the material in a less conventional way. The open structure also gives the leather room to show its softer character.
A unisex loafer completes the four-part range. Its defining detail comes through a foldable double tongue. Balenciaga subtly debosses its logo onto the first tongue, while the inside of the second carries the J.M. Weston name. The design keeps the loafer’s familiar outline while using the layered tongue to identify both participants in the project.
Each design carries a gold-foil collaboration logo on the insole and natural-colored calfskin lining. Across Clair Obscur, Balenciaga details reshape classic footwear through Le City studs, double-B perforations, exposed leather and a double tongue carrying both brands’ names.
