A renowned name that used the chance to showcase its collection during Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Berlin is Dorothee Schumacher. The well- known German label, that has been founded in 1989, decided to present its collection in an incredibly innovative setting this time: for that purpose the event location “Secret Garden” in the heart of Berlin was chosen. The picturesque paintings on the wall underlined the very special flair of this presentation. Worth of mentioning is the fact the labels’ Autumn/ Winter collection was not presented as a typical runway show, but the creations were presented on dolls. This season, the designer itself decided to talk to her guests and was looking for the personal conversation. Thus, this event felt like a much needed refreshing break during our busy fashion week days.

As a homage to the multifaceted soul of her brand, Dorothee dedicated the Alter Ego Collection to strong, cosmopolitan women that focuses on highest quality features and timeless pieces with a twist. But even more than that it focuses on the two faces most people have. Call it a story about alter egos.
This Fall/ Winter collection is a vivid mix and match of timeless pieces and elaborate details. Look at those over- sized pockets, the preference for asymmetric cuts, the play with various lengths and cuts. Those sophisticated pieces can be worn during the day, but also for after-work hours. It is your choice.
The range of colours contains of sundry timeless, classy hues, for instance night black, creme, pewter and sheer white. In addition to that rather restrained colour choice, a few autumn tones appear, such as striking saffron, compelling cognac, mysterious emerald green and bright scarlet. Some looks are kept tonal, whereas in others various nuances are harmoniously united.
It takes a second look to observe the print choice of this collection. Floral prints, animal prints (have you noticed those adorable little monkeys?), big circles – we name it, Dorothee Schumacher shows it all. Moreover the pieces of this collection do not scream for attention, but way more impress you by their very special detail- awareness.
Among all those gorgeous outfits, it is very hard to choose one favourite look. However there was one piece that caught our attention from first minute one: the emerald green trench coat that is mysteriously shimmering. Simply seductive, smooth, stylish.
“Alter Ego” is the perfect choice for any cosmopolitan woman that masters her own life and prefers to dress in a feminine yet timeless way. It can be worn by any generation.
