Fashion house MAME KUROGOUCHI unveiled its Pre-Fall 2023 Collection that was inspired by the ancient city of Arles, located on the banks of the Rhone River, in the Provence region in southern France. The collection interprets the city’s distinctive Romanesque architecture and its rich history with the sublime embroidered works, tactile textures and laid-back silhouettes.
“The coats, jackets and bustiers this season are delicately quilted into the shapes of flowers, which is reminiscent of the traditional embroidery technique of the south of France and Provence. The series is made of and padded with silk, a material that Japan have been using for centuries due to it being a lightweight material with excellent moisture absorption and desorption properties, it gives a feeling of wearing a second or third skin. The memories Mame Kurogouchi has of the plants and flowers in Arles, are reimagined into a delicate embroidery, and the silk dresses and open-collared shirts are brought to life with tonal embroidery, as if it is an enchantment of the human body.” – from Mame Kurogouchi
