Mia McKenna-Bruce expressed her excitement about the project, noting, “Chris Chibnall’s scripts are brilliant, and I am thrilled to be part of this new interpretation of the iconic Agatha Christie’s storytelling.” The series will blend Christie’s masterful storytelling with a modern twist, ensuring appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers.
Joining McKenna-Bruce in this intriguing escapade is Helena Bonham Carter, portraying Lady Caterham, and Martin Freeman as Battle, rounding out a stellar cast that brings depth and charisma to Christie’s complex characters. Set against the backdrop of England in 1925, the series begins at a lavish country house party where a seemingly innocent practical joke spirals into a deadly mystery. It’s up to the spirited Lady Eileen ‘Bundle’ Brent to uncover the truth behind a chilling plot that threatens to change her life forever.
“The Seven Dials Mystery” is penned by Chris Chibnall, the acclaimed creator of “Broadchurch” and former showrunner of “Doctor Who.” Chibnall’s involvement promises a series rich in suspense and character-driven storytelling. Executive produced by Suzanne Mackie of “The Crown” fame and Chris Sussman of “Good Omens,” the series is the first venture under Mackie’s Orchid Pictures, in collaboration with Chibnall’s Imaginary Friends.
Director Chris Sweeney, known for his work on “The Tourist” and “Back to Life,” brings his unique vision to the series, which aims to both honor and refresh Christie’s narrative.
James Prichard of Agatha Christie Limited, Christie’s great-grandson, also serves as an executive producer, ensuring the series remains true to the spirit of Christie’s work while introducing her stories to a new audience. “Bundle Brent is one of my great-grandmother’s raft of interesting, humorous, sharp, young female characters,” said Prichard. “To see her brought to life through the words of Chris Chibnall and this production with Orchid Pictures and Netflix is a dream come true. I think viewers will love this world that we have created, and hope for more.“
The series is set to begin filming this summer.
