Peter Copping

After years away from the spotlight, Lanvin is set to make a return to the Paris Fashion Week runway in January 2025. The highly anticipated event will mark the debut of Artistic Director Peter Copping’s first collection for the maison, showcasing the Autumn-Winter 2025 ready-to-wear collections for women and men. Known for its timeless sophistication and unparalleled craftsmanship, Lanvin’s comeback promises to be a defining moment in fashion.

A Historic Comeback for a Legendary Brand

Lanvin’s reentry into Paris Fashion Week is a milestone for the brand, the oldest continuously operating couture house in France. Founded in 1889 by visionary designer Jeanne Lanvin, the maison has long been synonymous with elegance and innovation. Since a strategic shift in 2022, Lanvin has embraced Jeanne Lanvin’s concept of le Chic Ultime as its guiding principle, signaling a new chapter for the iconic label. This philosophy, which translates to the quintessence of chic, will undoubtedly take center stage in Copping’s debut.

Peter Copping at Lanvin

Appointed Artistic Director in September 2024, Peter Copping brings decades of expertise to Lanvin. A graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, Copping honed his craft at Sonia Rykiel before spending over a decade at Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacobs as head of womenswear. His career trajectory includes stints as Creative Director at Nina Ricci in Paris and Oscar de la Renta in New York, where he was handpicked by de la Renta himself to be his successor.

Most recently, Copping led the couture ateliers at Balenciaga, overseeing the revival of its couture line and heading VIP and special projects. Now at Lanvin, he is tasked with reimagining both womenswear and menswear, aiming to infuse modern sensibilities into the brand’s rich heritage.

A Showcase of Le Chic Ultime

Lanvin’s January show will serve as an intimate yet impactful debut for Copping’s vision. The Autumn-Winter 2025 collection promises to encapsulate the maison’s hallmark elegance while reflecting the innovative design language that Copping has cultivated throughout his illustrious career. Jeanne Lanvin’s philosophy of le Chic Ultime will be woven into the collection, bridging the gap between the brand’s storied past and its dynamic future.

The runway presentation is expected to capture global attention, offering a preview of how Lanvin plans to reclaim its place among the most revered names in fashion.

Lanvin: A Leader in Contemporary Luxury

Today, the maison is celebrated for its excellence in womenswear, menswear, leather goods, and accessories. As the flagship brand of Lanvin Group, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (Ticker: LANV), Lanvin has demonstrated resilience and adaptability. The maison distributes its collections globally through a network of boutiques, online platforms, and select department stores, ensuring its designs reach discerning customers worldwide.

The January showcase marks an important moment in Lanvin’s journey, signaling the maison’s readiness to innovate while honoring its heritage.  Copping’s debut promises to merge his modern, couture-focused approach with Lanvin’s historic emphasis on craftsmanship and luxury. As the world watches, Lanvin aims to take back its position as a leader in contemporary fashion, setting the tone for its future.

Will Lanvin’s runway be Paris Fashion Week’s show most talked-about event? Let us know in the comments:

Does anyone care about Lanvin anymore? The creative director is also quite unknown and i don’t see this changing anything. Also, how about putting a woman to run a brand started by a WOMAN ! The most iconic and oldest french maison started by a woman in this moment in time, should and must be run by a woman. But no Lanvin Group go and choose an old white man. Byeee
