On the first day of Milan Fashion Week, Fiorucci transformed the city into an urban fairytale with its Spring Summer 2026 runway show. Backstage, captured exclusively for DSCENE Magazine by Sohom Das, was a hive of creative energy and playful transformation, a fitting reflection of the collection’s vibrant, cinematic spirit.
Piazza Fiorucci, the conceptual heart of the show, invited everyone to discover wonder in the overlooked corners of everyday life. The collection drew inspiration from the multicultural vibrancy of Via Paolo Sarpi, blending it with a dreamlike, surreal vision of an ideal square where fashion becomes a stage for freedom and self-expression. Backstage, this ethos was palpable: models and creatives mingled in a space that blurred the lines between reality and fantasy, preparing to step into a universe where cartoon figures and humans coexist in harmony. Set design played a starring role, with artificial, pop-infused urban elements, billboards, graphic “easter eggs,” and playful signage, creating a backdrop that was both familiar and fantastically strange. This visual language extended to the clothes and the models themselves. Artist Janine Zaïs was on hand, transforming models into living artworks with cartoon-style body painting. One standout: a model with her face painted like a dog’s snout, perfectly matched to an all-over print look, embodying the show’s irreverent, transformative spirit.

The collection itself was an ode to contrasts and playful identity. Body-hugging silhouettes, shrunken baby tees, cinched waists, tube skirts, and leggings created a sense of constant motion. Heart-shaped tops, wavy ruffle-belts straight out of a comic strip, and the iconic Fiorucci lips reinvented as bras, micro tops, and the new Lips Bag (in both mini and maxi) made everyday pieces extraordinary. Prints exploded with irony and color: angels, hearts, and cupids collided with popcorn stripes, heart-shaped polka dots, and poodles with bows. Accessories and styling amped up the fun, with “Make Hearts Beat Again” slogans on tees and caps, and sculpted shoulders giving the looks a bold, graphic edge.

The palette, red, sky blue, and white, was brought to life across tulle, mesh, recycled PVC, technical nylons, and glossy, paper-like Tyvek. Classics like crêpe de chine and chiffon mingled with innovative finishes, reflecting Fiorucci’s commitment to both heritage and experimentation. Backstage at Fiorucci SS26, identity was in motion, creativity was boundless, and every detail, down to the last painted cheek or playful accessory, echoed the brand’s invitation to see the world with wonder, humor, and open-hearted curiosity.
