The Air Jordan 4 Retro TEX Worn Blue Denim arrives August 9, 2025, as a women’s exclusive that reworks the silhouette with washed denim, stitched detailing, and a clean finish. Built entirely from cotton fabric in two different washes, the shoe replaces traditional materials with a textile-first approach. Design elements like grid stitching, tonal panels, and a single gold dubrae give this version a distinct identity while staying close to the structure of the original Air Jordan 4.

A Material Shift in Design
The Jordan 4 Denim Worn Blue upper features two shades of cotton denim, with a darker indigo around the mudguard and base, and a faded blue finish along the tongue, eyestay, and collar. This contrast defines the visual rhythm of the shoe. Rather than using mesh netting, which usually appears on the quarter panel and tongue, the design replaces it with contrast-stitched grids. The result mirrors the original shape but introduces a new surface texture that reacts differently in natural light and ages with wear.
Stitching is visible throughout, matching the industrial quality of the fabric. The signature lace cage and support wings remain in place, maintaining the silhouette’s architecture. Jumpman logos appear on the tongue and heel tab, embroidered in matching thread. At the base of the laces, a metallic gold dubrae reads “Family,” offering a sharp contrast to the muted denim and tying the design to a wider theme. The collar padding, interior lining, and tongue structure are unchanged from the traditional AJ4 model.

Fit and Cushioning
Comfort and performance remain intact thanks to a white polyurethane midsole, equipped with the same visible Air-Sole unit in the heel that defines the AJ 4s. A soft foam midsole layer supports the foot, offering responsiveness for both casual wear and sport-inspired movement. Beneath that, a gum rubber outsole enhances traction, while the familiar herringbone tread pattern provides stability and grip. These technical components ensure that, despite the upper’s aesthetic departure, the model still performs in line with the expectations for a Jordan Retro.

Denim in Jordan History
Denim has played a consistent role in Jordan Brand’s design history, beginning with the Levi’s x Air Jordan 4 collaboration in 2018. That release came in three colorways, Indigo, Black, and White, and featured full denim uppers, co-branded Levi’s tongue patches, and raw finishes that aged over time. The Indigo version led the trio and remains one of the most sought-after Jordan 4 releases in recent memory.
In 2019, the Air Jordan 6 Washed Denim followed with a more layered approach. The shoe combined panels of dark and light denim with tan overlays and red lace toggles. Though not part of a collaboration, it expanded the use of denim to a new model and introduced fresh texture to the design.
The women’s Air Jordan 1 High OG “Denim” released in 2022 introduced frayed light-wash overlays and gold hardware shaped like hoop earrings. That version leaned into contrast stitching and softer finishes. In 2024, another denim AJ1 High arrived, this time featuring a darker blue fabric with smoother construction and tonal detailing.
Each denim release offered a different interpretation, using the fabric to shape identity, contrast, or material depth. The new Denim 4s continue this path, returning to the model that first pushed denim to the forefront. It avoids distressing, raw edges, or branding crossovers, and instead focuses on clean finishes, stitched structure, and updated textile application.
