A24 has released the teaser trailer for Kristoffer Borgli’s upcoming film, The Drama, which places Zendaya and Robert Pattinson at the center of a relationship tested during a period that should mark stability. Zendaya plays Emma Harwood, and Pattinson plays Charlie Thompson, a couple preparing to marry until an unexpected turn disrupts their plans and unsettles the rhythm of their wedding week.

The teaser opens with Emma and Charlie seated in a photography studio, preparing to take formal portraits before the wedding. Their nervous posture sets the tone, and the photographer attempts to guide them through gentle prompts. As he asks them to stand close and smile, fragmented glimpses of their earlier, happier moments appear: quiet mornings, private jokes, and everyday routines that once defined their connection. These flashes offer a contrast to the tension visible in the studio, suggesting that the surface of the relationship no longer aligns with its current state.
The photographer continues to coax responses out of them, asking each to share what they appreciate about the other. Charlie describes Emma as “beautiful,” “funny,” and someone with “the best life,” while Emma calls Charlie “caring, understanding and open-minded.” Her final word lands during a cut to a moment of raw, unscripted intimacy, adding another layer to the complexity unfolding between them. The photographer encourages them to “remember” how well they know each other, though the images that follow suggest that knowledge may not provide stability.
The trailer expands its scope as more elements of their unraveling appear. Mamoudou Athie raises a toast at the wedding, the setting shifts to tense interior spaces, an alarm cuts through the scene, and Charlie throws a chair during a moment of frustration. He later appears on the street insisting that the situation is “just some drama,” a line that reflects both avoidance and recognition of the chaos surrounding him. Emma chugs brown liquor in another shot, signaling that she, too, struggles under the pressure building around them.
Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates join the cast, rounding out a narrative that moves between private tension and public moments during a week that should represent clarity.

A24 expanded the film’s introduction with an Instagram post presented as a Boston Globe-style announcement for “the wedding of the year.” The announcement introduces Emma’s background: a father described as a decorated military veteran, parents based in Louisiana, and a degree in English from Boston University. It also outlines Charlie’s academic path, noting his Ph.D in art history from Tufts University and his role as director of the Cambridge Arts Museum.
The studio concludes the promotional rollout with the directive to “save the date,” marking April 3, 2026 as the film’s release in theaters. Borgli positions The Drama as a comedic take on emotional fractures, presenting a narrative centered on a couple forced to confront the distance between past affection and present tension.
