Adidas introduces the latest Barricade tennis shoe, marking the fourteenth chapter in a franchise worn by major tournament winners for over 25 years. The new model arrives with significant technical updates designed to meet current on-court demands, giving players a lighter and more controlled feel from the first serve to the final point.

The design references the shoe’s long history while shifting toward the needs of the modern game. Adidas incorporates a LIGHTTRAXION outsole for the first time in tennis, adapting a material used previously in record-setting running shoes. The patterned structure enhances traction and durability while cutting weight compared to the earlier Barricade. The forefoot now features LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam, which delivers stronger energy return and supports quicker changes in direction.

Adidas shapes the Barricade around improved fit and comfort. A new last supports the midfoot and adds toe spring for a more active stance. The updated collar cushions the heel with a secure hold, and the tongue adds comfort through the upper foot. These adjustments give players a design that responds quickly on court while maintaining stability during long rallies.
The midsole construction introduces two key components. In the forefoot, LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam provides a fast, responsive feel and promotes effective push-off. In the heel, a layered REPETITOR foam design absorbs impact and supports heavy landings. Adidas adds a new Chassis to reinforce stability, giving players a platform built for forceful lateral movement and long matches.

Annette Steingass, Senior Director Specialist Sports Apparel at Adidas, explains the intention behind the update. She notes that the Barricade holds strong popularity among players at all levels, so the development team focused on creating a lighter and more comfortable model while maintaining control. Extensive testing with elite athletes confirmed player demand for these changes, guiding the refinements seen in the new silhouette.
The shoe launches in a classic white and black colorway chosen for easy styling with on-court outfits. Adidas will introduce the new Barricade on the major stage at the start of the 2026 season. Top athletes such as Daria Kasatkina, Karolina Muchova, Francisco Cerundolo, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Stefanos Tsitsipas will wear the model during competition.

The Barricade arrives at a price of €170 / $170 and comes in sizes UK 3.5–10 for women and UK 6–15 for men. The shoe is available now through adidas.com/tennis-shoes and the Adidas app.
