
HBO Max has renewed The Pitt for a third season ahead of the show’s second-season debut. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, announced the renewal during the season two premiere event in Los Angeles. The series returns with its second season on Thursday, January 8, at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO Max.

The Pitt comes from John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. R. Scott Gemmill created the series and serves as executive producer. The drama stars Noah Wyle in the lead role and continues its focus on frontline hospital workers in Pittsburgh.
The series centers on the pressures facing healthcare professionals in modern-day America, told through the daily realities inside a Pittsburgh hospital. The show frames these challenges through the experiences of doctors, nurses, and staff navigating emergency care, ethical dilemmas, and institutional strain.
Season two features a returning ensemble cast led by Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. The cast includes Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, and Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Al-Hashimi.
Gemmill executive produces alongside John Wells, Noah Wyle, Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan, and Michael Hissrich. John Wells Productions operates under an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.
The first season premiered in January 2025 and earned significant awards recognition. The Pitt received thirteen Emmy nominations and won five, including Outstanding Drama Series. Noah Wyle earned his first Emmy for Lead Actor, Katherine LaNasa won Supporting Actress, and Shawn Hatosy won Guest Actor. The series also won Outstanding Casting. Critics Choice Awards recognized the show with three wins, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Wyle, and Best Supporting Actress for LaNasa. The first season also secured two Golden Globe nominations, including Best Drama Series.
With the third-season renewal confirmed ahead of the second-season premiere, HBO Max signals continued confidence in The Pitt as a cornerstone drama within its original programming slate.
