KEEN introduces Idemo!, a short trail running film set in Montenegro’s Durmitor National Park. The five-minute project marks the start of the 2026 trail running season. The film reflects KEEN’s continued development of its trail running category, which the company launched less than a year earlier. Through this release, KEEN connects its footwear development with environments and experiences shaped through trail running.

The film features runners Mileshka Cortes Bernard and Essaw Tekle. It follows their run through mountainous terrain and unfamiliar routes within Durmitor National Park. The title Idemo! translates to “Let’s go” in Montenegrin, reinforcing the film’s focus on forward motion and exploration. The runners encounter varied terrain, shifting elevation, and remote pathways while maintaining focus on shared experience and physical effort. The project frames trail running as an activity shaped through terrain, environment, and personal endurance.
KEEN shot the film in one of Europe’s lesser-explored mountain regions, emphasizing Durmitor’s geological formations and historic routes. The terrain includes layered rock formations and established mountain paths that reflect long-standing human and natural interaction. Earth-toned visuals reinforce the physical environment, while a Yugo rock soundtrack introduces regional musical reference. The visual and audio direction connects the runners directly to their surroundings.
I believe that the mountains are just like us. They’re unpredictable. They are always changing depending on what’s happening around them. They have so much more than what you see on the surface. But you need to get closer to know more of them. – Mileshka Cortes Bernard
Cooper Gill, Vice President and Creative Director at KEEN, explained that the film reflects the company’s focus on discovery through physical activity. He described trail running as a way to encounter places and cultures while strengthening personal awareness. The film presents trail running as an experience shaped through shared effort, physical challenge, and environmental contact.
KEEN expanded into trail running footwear in early 2025 with the introduction of the Seek trail runner. The company later released the Roam, designed for varied terrain and multi-surface use. These models introduced KEEN’s approach to trail running footwear, focusing on durability, cushioning, and adaptability. Idemo! connects directly to this product development by presenting trail running within real terrain and environmental conditions.
The film reinforces KEEN’s Run for the Trails initiative, which frames trail running as an activity connected to physical exploration and environmental awareness.
