Nike unveiled the Air Foamposite Pro University Blue sneaker, restoring a colorway tied closely to early-2000s basketball culture. The shoe reflects a period when Nike basketball pushed footwear toward sculptural shapes and unconventional materials, separating performance models visually and structurally from traditional leather builds.

The Air Foamposite Pro relies on a one-piece molded shell that defines its identity. University Blue covers the Foamposite upper, creating a smooth surface with a liquid appearance shaped directly around the foot. White synthetic leather reinforces the eyestay and collar, introducing structure while keeping the profile streamlined. A large white Swoosh dominates the lateral panel, a defining feature that differentiates the Pro from the Foamposite One. Midnight Navy accents appear in select details, grounding the color palette and keeping the design aligned with its original early-2000s execution.

Nike equips the shoe with a concealed foam midsole paired with full-length Zoom Air. A stacked Zoom Air unit in the heel supports impact absorption during landings and quick changes of direction. This cushioning setup reflects the performance demands that informed the model’s original design. Underfoot, a white rubber outsole features herringbone traction pods that promote grip during lateral movement, reinforcing the shoe’s basketball-first construction.
Nike debuted Foamposite technology in 1997 as a radical shift in basketball shoe construction. Designers formed the upper from heated liquid foam that hardened into a rigid shell, removing the need for layered panels and stitched seams. The approach delivered durability, structure, and a futuristic appearance that immediately separated Foamposite models from other performance shoes of the era.

The Air Foamposite Pro followed as a variation that expanded the concept. The Pro introduced visible Nike branding and subtle structural adjustments, broadening the model’s reach beyond a single on-court association. During the early 2000s, Nike released the University Blue colorway, which quickly gained recognition for its clean palette and connection to collegiate basketball aesthetics. Over time, that version became one of the most requested Pro releases among collectors.
