The Peaky Blinders universe continues with a new sequel series from creator Steven Knight, following the original BBC crime drama and the feature film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Netflix and the BBC have released the first look at Charlie Heaton as Charles Shelby, the younger son of Tommy Shelby, giving fans an early view of the next chapter in the Shelby family story.

The sequel moves the story to Birmingham in the early 1950s, a decade after World War Two. The city begins rebuilding after the Birmingham Blitz, while a new generation of Shelbys takes control of the family narrative. The series shifts attention from Tommy Shelby to his sons, Duke and Charles, and places them inside a city shaped by danger, ambition, and new opportunity.
Charlie Heaton, known for Stranger Things and Industry, plays Charles Shelby. The first image shows him in a sharp period suit, far from the look many viewers associate with his Stranger Things role. His character has fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, and now tries to embrace normality. Charles has cut ties with the Peaky Blinders gang and the Shelby lifestyle, and he has spent years away from his half-brother Duke.
Jamie Bell will star as Duke Shelby, Tommy’s older son. The character returns to Birmingham older, wiser, more ambitious, and more dangerous. Viewers last saw Duke dealing with a major loss, and the sequel places him at the center of Birmingham’s brutal post-war race for power. Bell, known for All of Us Strangers and Rocketman, takes over the role after Barry Keoghan played Duke in The Immortal Man.

The official logline frames the new series around family, power, and inheritance. Charles wants a quiet, honest life after the war, yet the Shelby name continues to pull him toward the underworld he left behind. Duke, by contrast, steps back into Birmingham with force. Their separation, reunion, and competing relationships to the Shelby legacy will drive the drama across the new era of Peaky Blinders.
Steven Knight writes and creates the sequel, continuing the story he began with the original series. “I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s,” Knight said. He also described the new chapter as the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham Blitz, with the next generation of Shelbys taking control.
The cast also includes Jessica Brown Findlay, known for Harlots and Downton Abbey, Lashana Lynch, known for The Day of the Jackal and No Time to Die, and Lucy Karczewski, who makes her television debut after Stereophonic. Details about their characters remain under wraps.
The Peaky Blinders sequel will include two new six-episode seasons. Kudos, Banijay UK companies, and Garrison Drama produce the series for the BBC in the U.K. and Netflix for the rest of the world. Production currently takes place in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham. BBC One and BBC iPlayer will premiere the series in the U.K., with a global Netflix release to follow. An official release date has yet to be announced.
