Jennifer Lopez returns to rom-com territory with Office Romance, a new Netflix film premiering globally on June 5. The film pairs Lopez with Brett Goldstein in a story about ambition, desire, and the complications that follow when two workaholics fall for each other inside the same company. Directed by Ol Parker, Office Romance brings Lopez back into a genre she has helped define across several stages of her career, this time with a workplace setup that quickly shifts from professional restraint to private chaos.

Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, a perfectionist CEO whose presence keeps employees on edge. Brett Goldstein plays Daniel Blanchflower, the company’s ambitious new lawyer. Their connection begins inside the office, where both characters try to keep their attraction under control. The trailer shows the tension building through boardroom glances, private moments, and a chemistry that neither Jackie nor Daniel can fully manage. As their relationship intensifies, the story moves into riskier territory, with island escapes, workplace encounters, and the possibility that Jackie could lose the company she built.
The film frames romance through professional pressure. Jackie and Daniel understand the stakes of their choices, yet their feelings keep pulling them into situations that threaten their careers and reputations. Office Romance uses that conflict to build its central question: can desire justify the risk of damaging everything a person has worked for? The story keeps its focus on two people who know how to control a business environment, then lose that control once emotion enters the equation.
Goldstein co-wrote the film with Joe Kelly, adding another layer to his role in the project. During filming, he described the experience with disbelief and humor. “Every day I come to work to do a rom-com with Jennifer Lopez and this incredible cast, and I expect people to jump out and tell me I’m being pranked,” Goldstein said. “Hasn’t happened yet, so maybe this is real?”

Office Romance also features Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, Edward James Olmos, and Jodie Whittaker. Gilpin plays Sydney, Jackie’s best friend, who keeps close watch on the unfolding love story. Whittaker appears as Lizzy, Daniel’s sister, giving him advice from an unexpected angle. Edward James Olmos reunites with Lopez after playing her father in the 1997 film Selena, and here he steps into a paternal role again.
Netflix positions Office Romance as a charming and raunchy romantic comedy built around secrecy, workplace pressure, and the messy consequences of choosing emotion over caution. The trailer previews flirtation, denial, and the trouble Jackie and Daniel find once they start thinking with their hearts. The film arrives June 5, giving Netflix a summer romantic comedy led by two stars navigating desire inside a company where privacy quickly becomes impossible.
