PUMA brings the Homura back from its early 2000s running archive, returning to a period when the brand pushed performance footwear through vivid color, technical structure, and a sharper visual language. First released during the Y2K era, the Homura formed part of PUMA Complete, a franchise built around performance runners with high-impact color and functional running design. Its return places one of that era’s defining training models back into circulation with the same force that shaped its original release.

The Homura arrives with a high-contrast palette that immediately connects it to Y2K road running. A bright orange upper sets the base, while black contours trace the shoe with graphic precision. Yellow and turquoise hits add energy across the silhouette, giving the design a fast, technical rhythm. The color execution drives the shoe’s identity, turning performance details into a clear visual code. PUMA uses sharp linework throughout the upper, giving the model a sense of speed even before it reaches the track or street.

The shoe originally debuted under the “Japan Racers” project alongside the lightweight Fuga. That connection gives the Homura a specific place inside PUMA early 2000s experimentation, when running models carried expressive design choices alongside performance functions. A Japanese character appears on the tongue and footbed, translating to flame or blaze. The detail connects directly to the Homura name and to the visual temperature of the design, which uses saturated color and graphic contrast to suggest motion, heat, and impact.
PUMA developed the Homura as a training model with targeted midsole cushioning. That functional base matters to the way the shoe reads today. The silhouette carries the marks of performance running through its structure, materials, and tooling, with PUMALITE technology supporting its original purpose. Performance textiles shape the upper, giving the model a technical foundation tied to road running and training.

The Homura also reflects a wider experimental chapter in PUMA design. During its first release, the brand explored performance runners through color, speed, and precision, creating models that looked as energetic as the technology behind them. The Homura captured that approach through an upper built around motion lines, bright contrast, and a name linked to flame.
For 2026, PUMA keeps the focus on the Homura as a function-led design with a strong visual identity. The model returns with the elements that defined it first: bright orange, black overlays, yellow and turquoise accents, Japanese character details, performance textiles, targeted cushioning, and PUMALITE tooling. The PUMA Homura launches on May 16, 2026. The model will arrive through PUMA website, PUMA flagship stores, and selected PUMA stockists.
