OMEGA has spent decades proving that a recognizable watch does not need to remain frozen in place. The latest evolution of the Speedmaster 38 mm makes that point with unusual clarity. Seven new references arrive with revised proportions, quieter dials, new color combinations and stronger visual tie to the Moonwatch, giving the collection a sharper identity while preserving the qualities that made the smaller Speedmaster compelling in the first place.
WATCHES
The changes begin with the dial. OMEGA replaces the previous oval subdials with rounded versions, immediately bringing the layout closer to the familiar architecture of the Moonwatch. The brand also reduces the amount of wording across the dial, allowing the chronograph functions and applied details to take greater visual priority. Around them, thicker bezels return with the Dot-Over-Ninety configuration long associated with the Speedmaster.
These decisions may appear subtle individually, yet together they alter the character of the watch. The 38 mm feels more focused and more closely connected to the wider Speedmaster family. OMEGA reinforces that relationship through a five-link bracelet derived from the Moonwatch, with polished or brushed central links depending on the reference.
The collection then opens into seven distinct interpretations.
The steel model with a black dial comes closest to the classic Speedmaster vocabulary. A matt black varnished dial, black aluminium bezel and white Super-LumiNova create a direct, highly legible configuration. It also stands apart mechanically as the only reference without a date display, powered by OMEGA’s self-winding Co-Axial Calibre 3332.
The white dial edition moves in a brighter direction. OMEGA pairs a lacquered white surface with a blue ceramic bezel and blue CVD-coated hands and indexes. Matching blue numerals appear in the date window, giving the entire composition a controlled graphic quality.
A third steel option introduces warmer notes through an opaline silvery PVD dial and grey aluminium bezel. Sedna Gold PVD details appear across the hands and indexes, while brown accents enter the subdials.
OMEGA expands the material vocabulary further through two bicolour references. One combines stainless steel with polished 18K Moonshine Gold and a green aluminium bezel ring. The second develops the collection’s established cappuccino direction with an ivory dial, brown subdials, Sedna Gold detailing and a brown aluminium bezel. In both cases, precious metal appears within the bracelet as well, integrating the case and strap into a single visual idea.
The final two models push the Speedmaster 38 mm toward a more decorative register. OMEGA sets each bezel with 52 diamonds totaling 1.53 carats. One version features an ice-blue PVD dial, while the other uses white mother-of-pearl. Rhodium-plated hands and baton indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova maintain the functional clarity expected from the collection.
Six of the seven references use the Co-Axial Calibre 3330 and include a date function. The black no-date version receives Calibre 3332, creating a subtle distinction within the group while keeping the mechanical approach consistent.
What makes this update convincing is the way OMEGA works within an existing design rather than trying to overturn it. The Speedmaster already carries one of the clearest identities in contemporary watchmaking. The challenge lies in extending that identity without weakening it.
With the new Speedmaster 38 mm, OMEGA does exactly that. The proportions feel more resolved, the Moonwatch references become more deliberate, and the expanded use of color and precious materials gives the collection room to address different tastes without losing its core. Seven watches emerge from the same foundation, each carrying a different personality while remaining unmistakably Speedmaster.
