Fashion photographer Amber Pinkerton and stylist Anders Sølvsten Thomsen teamed up for Yuhan Wang‘s SS21 lookbook. In charge of beauty were hair stylist Kotasuizu, and makeup artist Bea Sweet. Stars of the session are Jundan Chen, Tabatha May, and Paige Anne.

“Expanding on her consistently sensitive approach to romanticising her muse, this season sees Wang intertwine traditional Chinese motifs and practices with her ornate blend of East and West, tradition and subversion, fragility and strength.

‘Grapes and vines represent the harvest of one’s year – and for the Chinese, the autumn festival is also a joyous celebration of a better life,’ says Wang, who incorporated this imagery throughout vintage cross-stitch embroideries, adorning slender flounced columns and skinny tulle tops. This nod to joyous custom is further enhanced by intricate Buddha necklaces and laced fabric pumps.

Ruched and draped stretch satin dresses – intrinsic to Wang’s design handwriting – further exemplify this appreciation for vitality through soft tulip and flourishing vine prints in an impressionistic palette of powder blues, pearly whites and primrose yellows. Silhouette is strengthened in the form of multifunctioning jacquard jackets, alongside printed cotton jersey dresses with strategic drapes, slashes and structured tube skirts.” – from Yuhan Wang
