Solid Homme, the brainchild of the legendary fashion entrepreneur and designer Youngmi Woo, also known as Madame Woo, once again took the fashion world by storm with their Spring Summer 2024 collection. Unveiled during Paris Fashion Week, the collection explored the evolution of craft-inspired uniforms, intertwining elements of multigenerational workwear, utility wear, formality, and industrial design. With stylistic sentiment to South Korea’s collective memory of uniform-wearing, Solid Homme redefined standards and empowered individuals to choose their own tribes and create their own standards.
Solid Homme Spring Summer 2024 collection effortlessly merged workwear aesthetics with streetwear sensibilities, resulting in straight silhouettes that were relaxed into oversized proportions. The use of hard-wearing, heavy cotton twill in cropped jackets established a structured top fit, while the introduction of jerseys and glossy, lightweight technical fabrics softened the overall look. Denim, with bleached edges and seams, seamlessly blended with a range of knitwear, including retro crochet, sporty mesh, and transparent knits layered over shirts. The collection celebrated the traditional codes of manual work, elevating workshop aprons, bug suits, and carpenter’s pencil holders to fresh and futuristic states. At the same time, the incorporation of button down shirts and ties, iconic symbols of the corporate grind, provided a literal interpretation of uniformity.

Solid Homme’s SS24 collection featured a practical colour palette with a cool mineral base and earthy sub-tones. Accents of Eggplant, Faïence, Lime, and Sunrise punctuated the collection, adding vibrant focal points. Drawing inspiration from modern industrial design, steel frames influenced piping elements and metal detailing, while strategically placed zippers adorned double-layered pant legs, hoodie pockets, and jacket sleeves, allowing for modular styling.
The runway show at Paris Fashion Week, styled by the talented fashion stylist Julian Ganio, who also curated looks for the latest Fendi Spring-Summer 2024 runway show, presented an impeccable vision. Ganio’s expertise in combining different elements and creating cohesive ensembles perfectly complemented Solid Homme‘s aesthetic. The casting director Marie Levy played a pivotal role in selecting the models, ensuring a diverse and compelling line-up that showcased the collection’s versatility and broad appeal.

Solid Homme Spring Summer 2024 collection was a testament to Madame Woo’s visionary approach to menswear design. By embracing the evolution of uniforms and incorporating elements from various spheres, the brand successfully activated new modes and captured the essence of contemporary style.
