Nicolas Di Felice Announced as Jean Paul Gaultier’s Next Guest Designer

The designer behind the Courrèges brand will be the collaborator for the next Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture collection

Jean Paul Gaultier has officially announced Nicolas Di Felice, the creative director of Courrèges, as its next guest designer, marking a fresh and bold direction for the iconic fashion house. Gaultier praises Di Felice’s creativity and boldness, highlighting his perfect fit for bringing new perspectives to Gaultier’s established style. Since taking over Courrèges in 2020, Di Felice has rejuvenated the brand, steering it from its nostalgic roots into the spotlight of modern cult fashion with his approachable yet bold designs. His upcoming role at Jean Paul Gaultier represents an exciting departure from the wearable focus at Courrèges, offering him a playground to explore haute couture’s creativity.

Di Felice’s anticipation to dive into Gaultier’s extensive archives reflects his long-standing admiration for the designer, who has been a significant influence since Di Felice’s youth in Belgium. Gaultier’s French couture with a spirit of non-conformism resonates deeply with Di Felice, mirroring his own fashion journey.  The designer’s rich background, including stints under fashion icons like Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton and Raf Simons at Dior, has prepared him for this challenge, set to debut in June this year.

The introduction of Nicolas Di Felice at Gaultier as a guest designer continues the tradition of inviting innovative talents to helm its haute couture collections, a practice that has included names like Chitose Abe and Glenn Martens. This strategy has helped keep the brand at the forefront of fashion discourse, especially after the cessation of its ready-to-wear line in 2014 to concentrate on haute couture and its core perfume business.
