In just a few weeks, the second edition of Alcova Miami is set to open its doors during Miami Art Week 2024. Running from December 3rd to 8th, Alcova Miami will be open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge design in the historic setting of the Miami River Inn. Located in the South River Drive Historic District of East Little Havana, this year’s venue—the city’s oldest hotel—provides a rich architectural backdrop for an event that has quickly become a must-see on the international design scene.

DESIGN

Following its successful debut in Miami last year, Alcova, known for being one of the most talked-about events during Milan Design Week, is ready to continue its mission of presenting a diverse array of designers, galleries, companies, institutions, and schools. This year’s lineup includes: Adam Kvaček, Alvaro Catalán de Ocón, AnanasAnanas, Arrived Aliens, Bucktron, Bureau Parso, Furn Object, G Home, Giopagani, IED Istituto Europeo di Design, Juntos Projects, Kalon Studios, Kevin Quale, Konqrit by Cecilia Garcia Galofre, Laura Casañas Maya, LCD Textile Edition, Leo Lague, Lexus in Design (Germane Barnes, Studio Kër, Crafting Plastics! Studio, Suchi Reddy, and T Sakhi), Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, Made by Astronauts, Make_Good_ and the Center for Subtropical Affairs, Panorammma, Parasite 2.0 x Bianco67, Pepe Valenti, Puglia Region, Raworkshop, Rest Energy, Room—file, Sema Topaloglu, Sheyang Li, Somad, Something Last, Stamuli, Studio Haos, Studio LoopLoop, Studio Tooj, Theo Galliakis, Tokio, Victor Miklos Andersen, Vintola Studio, and Objects of Common Interest.

This year’s edition will feature more than 40 exhibitors, with a strong focus on showcasing emerging talent from around the globe. Among the notable participants are Panorammma from Mexico, known for their multidisciplinary explorations of domestic spaces; Athens-based studio Made by ASTRONAUTS in collaboration with brand Serapis; and the Italian collective Parasite 2.0 x bianco67, whose project focuses on the reuse of marble and stone. New York-based conceptual designer Jirah Joshua (Room—file) is also part of the lineup, highlighting Alcova’s dedication to championing forward-thinking creators and innovative projects.

Alcova Miami 2024 will present several site-specific installations that reinterpret the venue’s indoor and outdoor spaces. Among these, Spanish designer Lucas Muñoz Muñoz will present a project crafted from objects sourced throughout Miami, which will transform and reactivate the large central plaza of the Miami River Inn. AnanasAnanas, a Los Angeles-based collective making waves in food design, will present an installation designed for the venue’s pool—a bold statement piece that speaks to the group’s innovative use of materials and concepts.

In addition to new talents, the event will welcome back several renowned designers whose past contributions have significantly shaped Alcova’s evolving identity. This includes Rich Aybar (RAWORKSHOP), Objects of Common Interest, Studio LoopLoop, and Crafting Plastics! Studio, all of whom will bring their unique perspectives to this year’s showcase. Their work at Alcova reflects the ongoing dialogue between established practices and experimental approaches that the platform aims to foster.

Alongside the exhibitions and installations, Alcova Miami 2024 will also offer a robust program of talks, roundtable discussions, and events. While details of the public program are yet to be fully unveiled, the event promises an engaging array of conversations centered on the future of design, sustainability, and the creative process. Alcova Miami is set to be a dynamic and thought-provoking experience, blending creativity, history, and community in one of Miami’s most iconic historic locations.
