Bad Bunny continues his close collaboration with adidas Originals through the launch of the Gazelle City Series, a trio of sneakers that reflect his deep-rooted connection to Puerto Rico. Designed as a personal homage, the collection draws attention to the island’s unique geography, cultural energy, and ecological diversity. Far from the tourist postcards of San Juan, these sneakers celebrate places that carry local significance and deserve wider global visibility.

The series features three distinct colorways, each inspired by a location with strong ties to the artist. The El Yunque model features forest green hues drawn from the tropical rainforest of the same name – Puerto Rico’s only entry in the U.S. National Forest System. The design mirrors the biodiversity and historical resonance of the rainforest, from its dense canopy to its deep spiritual importance in the island’s traditions.

In vivid contrast, the Santurce version leans into a bright orange palette. Long regarded as the cultural heartbeat of San Juan, Santurce represents contemporary music, dance, and street art. It is the neighborhood where underground genres became mainstream and where local artistry reshaped national identity. The sneaker’s bold tone mirrors the energy that pulses through its galleries, theaters, and alleyway murals.

The third release, Cabo Rojo, arrives in a standout pink finish, nodding to the region’s famous salt flats and naturally pink waters. These colors arise from microorganisms that thrive in the saline environment, creating a rare visual effect. Despite ongoing recovery from natural disasters like Hurricane Maria, Cabo Rojo remains ecologically vital and deeply symbolic.

adidas has planned a staggered release for the collection. Residents of Puerto Rico received early access to the El Yunque and Santurce editions on July 11 at 10AM EST. The Cabo Rojo sneaker will release globally at a later date, ensuring a broader audience can engage with the visual storytelling behind the pink-hued design.
