Salomon teams up with Montreal-based design studio JJJJound for a new take on the XT-6, a shoe originally built for ultra-distance runners. First introduced in 2013 by Salomon’s S/LAB team, the XT-6 arrives in this collaboration with two distinct looks. The release keeps the shoe’s performance roots intact while giving it a subtle shift in palette and tone.

The XT-6 has long balanced function and form. Its sculpted chassis, durable lug pattern, and lightweight build made it a go-to option for athletes on technical trails. Over the years, the silhouette gained traction in streetwear for its utilitarian structure and distinct visual profile. With this release, JJJJound applies its design approach to an already proven shape, shifting the XT-6 further into everyday use without stripping away its technical edge.

The collaboration introduces two versions of the XT-6. The first colorway uses a black and yellow synthetic upper with a vivid blue mesh underlay. Black covers the tongue, sockliner, and laces, while yellow details appear across the midsole and contrast against the outsole. This version channels a layered palette that draws attention without overreaching. JJJJound’s branding appears on the medial quarter, with a woven label stitched into the tongue. Red logo marks run throughout, creating a consistent accent that ties the color blocking together.

The second version follows a more reduced visual path. This pair features a charcoal and black synthetic upper over a charcoal mesh underlay. The black rubber outsole and black mesh tongue hold the color scheme in check, giving the shoe a low-contrast, wear-anywhere appeal. Red branding elements repeat across this pair as well, keeping a graphic link between the two designs.

Both models use the same technical features that defined the original XT-6. Salomon’s agileCHASSIS provides stability underfoot. The Quicklace system delivers a fast and secure fit. The rubber outsole keeps traction consistent across multiple surfaces, while the midsole construction supports extended wear without excess weight.
Salomon and JJJJound will release both XT-6 colorways in August. The shoes will be available online through Salomon’s official website in the U.S. and Europe starting August 7 at 9 AM EST, with a global launch scheduled for August 8. Each pair will retail for $190 USD.
