Allina Liu debuted her Spring Summer 2026 collection at New York Fashion Week, marking her first runway show. She sharpened her skills at The Row, Thakoon, Rebecca Taylor, and J.Crew before launching her own label, which balances elegance with sensuality. Her vision draws on diverse influences, from Ren Hang and Nobuyoshi Araki to Do-ho Suh and seventeenth-century Dutch portraiture, creating a foundation rooted in layered and provocative references. Katie Borrazzo photographed the backstage atmosphere of Allina Liu Spring Summer 2026, exclusively for DSCENE Magazine.

Sustainability and ethical labor remain central to the brand. Liu resists the pace of fast fashion, preferring a process that allows intention and detail to guide the outcome. This approach places her designs within a space that values care, quality, and emotional resonance.
For SS26, Liu leaned on her recognizable vocabulary of ties and straps, using them both as decoration and structure. A hand-painted print appeared across dresses and separates, introducing bursts of color that carried a painterly energy. Alongside these signatures, new silhouettes broadened the brand’s scope while remaining anchored in its core identity.

The show’s atmosphere pulled from film and art. Liu referenced the psychological tension of Secretary (2002), folding its themes of intimacy and restraint into the collection. Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings added another dimension, introducing sensual and corporeal motifs that filtered into the designs.

On the runway, these influences translated into a contrast between softness and structure. Models appeared with floral appliqués pressed to their lips, a gesture that emphasized beauty and silence in equal measure. Satin dresses shimmered in vivid hues, sheer stockings added delicacy, while tailored black pieces grounded the collection. Oversized bows and layered textures amplified the sense of romantic tension throughout.
